Objective

Theaimofthisstudywastosystematicallyreviewtheavailableclinicaltrialsexaminingmaleinfertilityafteringuinalherniaswererepairedusingmeshprocedures.

Methods

TheCochraneLibrary,PubMed,Embase,WebofScience,andChineseBiomedicalMedicineDatabasewereinvestigated.TheJadascorewasusedtoevaluatethequalityofthestudies,“OxfordCentreforEvidence-basedMedicine-LevelsofEvidence”wasusedtoassessthelevelofthetrials,anddescriptiveanalysiswasusedtoevaluatethestudies.

Results

Twentyninerelatedtrialswithatotalof36,55patientswereinvestigated,includingsevenrandomizedcontrolledtrials(RCTs)with66patientsand0clinicaltrials(30patients)withmeshornon-meshrepairs.TheJadascoreshowedthatthereweresixhighqualityRCTsandonelowqualityRCT.LevelsofevidencedeterminedfromtheOxfordCentreforEvidence-basedMedicinefurtherdemonstratedthatthosesixhighqualityRCTsalsohadhighlevelsofevidence.Itwasfoundthatserumtestosterone,LH,andFSHlevelsdeclinedinthelaparoscopicgroup
